Grady Talks began as a volunteer effort by a local professional and parent to provide free career coaching to high school students and quickly evolved into a weekly speaker series. Since the first presentation in October 2009, Grady Talks has featured an impressive list of leaders, mentors and local celebrities. The program was developed by Liz Lieberman, a professional career coach who wanted to give back to the Atlanta community by offering students free coaching on important topics she knew were seldom taught in high school. As she began to work with the students, Liz realized they would benefit greatly from the career advice of professionals in various fields and tapped into her network to create Grady Talks. Talk About Your Future, Inc. was incorporated as the umbrella entity of Grady Talks in 2011 and subsequently received federal 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt status.
Atlanta professionals and leaders have said “yes” to sharing their expertise and insights with the students at Grady High. Their presentations have touched on a wide and nuanced array of topics, with common themes of career planning and discovering ones passion. Each presenter volunteers his or her time, for which we are incredibly grateful. Their hope, like ours, is to help these students build positive and rewarding futures, both personally and professionally. Grady Talks also facilitates workshops on interpersonal relationships and career preparation.
